How Variable Information is Printed

At GSM Online Label Sales some of the labels and nameplates we manufacture include variable serial numbers or barcodes.

When you order sequentially numbered labels or asset tags you advise the starting number and the quantity that you require. From this, our studio generate a spreadsheet that is used with our machine software to automatically print each label with the variable information.

If barcode labels are ordered, the same order process applies where the starting number is advised and the quantity of labels needed. However, we do not generate the spreadsheet when we are printing barcodes as our software can increase by 1 number for each label.

Pretty clever stuff, isn’t it?! Not only can we print variable numbers we can also print completely different non-sequential numbers or images also using our specialist digital printers. If this is something that you require, please send your details to onlinelabelsales@gsmgroup.co.uk.

In contrast, should you require a static QR code that links to a url, you can order these here. Static QR codes are commonly used for equipment or machinery that requires a manual as the QR code can be scanned to display this. Any updates to a manual can be made on the url and the user will always have the most up to date version.
